An original signed drawing by Belgian artist Francine Somers, created during her Congo period in the 1950s.
This elegant composition depicts three Congolese women rendered with remarkable economy of line. Somers captures posture, clothing and expression with confident charcoal and ink strokes, revealing the keen observational talent for which she became known.
Unlike finished studio works, drawings such as this provide a direct insight into the artist's creative process and are increasingly sought after by collectors of Belgian African art.
