Original watercolor by Belgian artist Marie Louise Stradiot-Bougnet (1907–1953), known for her African subjects and mentioned in Lynn Thornton’s Les Africanistes: Peintres voyageurs. More available, some signed and/or dated 1933.

The work shows a small round hut surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, painted with a light and spontaneous watercolor touch. A charming and atmospheric piece from around 1933, reflecting the tradition of Belgian travel artists working in Africa.
